2024 Inductees
April 16, 2024
Healthiest Employers® was started in 2009 as a way to celebrate companies that are putting their people first by investing in the health of their employees. The awards program started in Indianapolis and quickly scaled its reach across the United States.
Healthiest Employers’ co-founders, Rod Reasen and Phil Daniels, recognized a shift in how healthcare was delivered coupled with the need for employers to take a more prominent role in supporting their employees’ health and fighting back against rising health costs. A lot has changed since 2009, but one thing remains the same – Healthiest Employers continues to highlight the best and brightest in employee health and well-being.
For the past decade, our team has celebrated the Healthiest 100™ Workplaces in America as part of our national awards program, administered by Springbuk. This program honors the “best of the best” in corporate health and wellness. Every fall, the list is published announcing the top 100 companies that placed across all regions, locations, and company sizes.
In 2022, we began our Healthiest Employers Hall of Fame. Inductees regularly demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their employees by regularly modifying and altering programs to best fit their populations’ needs. Last year, 20 companies were inducted into the Healthiest Employers Hall of Fame.
The following organizations will add their name to this prestigious list.

City of Charlotte
Headquarters: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employee Count: 8,000
Industry: Government/Municipalities
About: The City of Charlotte operates under a council-manager form of government. The Mayor and City Council are responsible for making policy decisions for the community and providing vision and leadership to the organization. The City employs a diverse workforce, all ultimately tasked with creating community through the jobs that they do.
Given the landscape of the past few years, the City saw the impact the lack of life planning was having on employees and their families. Many employees did not have beneficiaries or an end-of-life plan in place, causing significant stress on loved ones. They created a program called “Get your Ducks in a Row,” a multi-layered program focused on the importance of life insurance, estate planning, account password/code sharing, and conversations with family members on these important topics. Employees have greater peace of mind knowing their families will be taken care of. At the end of the program, employees also received waterproof/fireproof lockboxes and other resources to help implement the program into their lives.
One employee shared, “My 54-year-old brother passed in 2020 with no will, divorced, and two teenage children at home. I am still working to settle his estate two and a half years later. This information is so important and these sessions should be required!”
